Volatiles of Banding Tape

 

Title of the method: Volatiles by oven method for Polyester Resin Impregnated Fiber Glass Banding Tape.

 

1.0 Scope

1.1 This method is applicable for determination of volatiles (%) in banding tape.

 

2.0 Requirements

2.1 Air circulating oven.

2.2 One petridishes

2 3 Desiccator

2.4 Balance weighing to ± 0.0001 gms.

 

3.0 Method

3.1 Accurately weigh the clean and dry petri-dish & record the weight W1

3.2 Add about 1 roll of Banding Tape sample to the dish. Weigh accurately and record the total weight W2.

3.3 Transfer the dish to the oven operating at temperature of 100 ± 5°C for one hour.

3.4 Take out the dish and keep in desiccator and allow to cool.

3.5 Reweigh the dish (W3) and calculate Volatiles / moisture content.
